About the Author

Jane J. Stein loves to travel, and like Mrs. J she has been to every continent in the world except Antarctica. She lives in Washington, D.C., and like Mrs. J she loves going to museums and operas. Have you guessed that Mrs. J is her mother?  She is. This book is based in part on Mrs. J’s notes from her trip around the world. Jane goes to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, to ski in the winter and hike in the summer. She is a writer and editor and has written two books and hundreds of articles on health. Dear Class is her first children’s book. She is married to Bob and has two children and five grandchildren.

This is a photo of Jane hiking in Spain on the Camino de Santiago.

About the Illustrator

Pamela A. Duckworth also loves to travel. She went to school in France and traveled around Europe just a few years after Mrs. J's trip, visiting many of the same sites as Mrs J. Pam was a lawyer with firms in Boston, Massachusetts, for 37 years until retiring in 2012. She has always liked to draw and paint and has taken many art classes, starting in grade school and continuing to the present. She lives in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, with her partner Steve and her cats, Muddy and Buddy. Pam runs, bikes and skis when she isn't reading, traveling, or making art.

Pam drew this illustration of herself.
